February 24, 2014

Hello my favorite people!!!
How is everyone? I cannot wait to here how everything is doing! (I write my email first and then read as much as possible after ....so, I don't know what happened this week yet...I am excited to hear!) I sure do love you all! I hope Uncle Kerry and Jazzy had a good birthday...you were in my prayers that day! :)
Well, I can't imagine life being any better! I LOVE being a missionary! I am so happy and am trying to eat it all up! I have so much to learn still but, hey - when do we ever stop having to learn?! So, I am enjoying the process of bettering myself everyday and finding joy in the journey!
This week was great! We found a few new investigators...Kari and Bethany...the are really sweet! We extended a baptisimal invitation to Dirk (the miracle snow shoveling man)  and he said YES!!!!  He is progressing so fast! It has been awesome to watch Heavenly Father at work! Amazing indeed!! Carlos is doing good...he wants to believe it is true but, is having a hard time recognizing the spirit... I know he has felt it though..he cried last time we taught him so I don't know where the missing link is...? I am still thinking about that one. I must say though we have become really good friends with Carlos and Beverly, his wife. We run at the Monon Center every morning and we have got them to come with us! We see them every morning and I give him a high five every time I lap him... haha - he likes to tease me about that. Sister Warner and I were teasing and thought we should just teach him a lesson every morning at the track! :) Overall the work is coming along... we have zone conference tomorrow and then we are planning on baptizing all of Westfield... so wish us luck! ;)

From the day we met Dirk - shoveling his driveway!

FUNNY MOMENT- We were out personal contacting one day and met a guy named Mike Lee...we talked to him and he said he would be interested in hearing more...and to just call him and he would let us know when is best. He seemed a little sketchy about the whole thing, but we exchanged mumbers and went on our way. So, about a day or two later I called him...(thinking he probably wouldn't answer or I would get told "I am not very interested") So, I braced myself as I called him. HE ANSWERED! I talked to him and we set up an appiontment... well at the end of the phone call I thanked him for picking up the phone and then said goodbye. As soon as I hung up...Sister Warner asked me if I just thanked him for picking up the phone? haha I totally had! Sometimes I am incredibly awkward! Sister Warner got a kick out of it...( I dont know if it is super funny...but your sense of humor becomes a little werid when you become a missionary :)) Sorry.... haha
Well, I love you all! You are all incredible and make me better...Thank you! I love you MOM, DAD, AUSTIN, AMY, BRENNEN, ALEX, HARRISON, AND MCCALL. There is not a day I do not pray for you and think of you!
Love
Sista Clegg :)

February 17, 2014

Oh how this is my favorite part of P-day!!!
How is everyone? McCall, How was your birthday? Alex your game in Burley? Thank you so much for the packages Momma..YOU ARE THE BEST! It was so sweet of you! I absolutely love that purple blanket..my companion teases me because I talk about how soft it is almost everyday! Also, for the calendar! haha I love it!

So, my first week in the mission was a success! I am in the area of "Westfield". We live in Carmel but, our area is Westfield. It has actually been a huge blessing because the mission home is in Carmel so, I have been able to get to know all the office missionaries and see President a lot more than most missionaries...so that has been fun! Carmel is known as the #1 place to live in America...I am one lucky ducky if I do so say myself! :) Carmel is a very financially well off place I guess you could say! Every house is so cute...almost all made out of brick, which I love. My trainer is the BEST! Her name is Sister Warner and she is from Dallas, Texas. She is so sweet and is such a good trainer...lets just say she was a a huge answer to a prayer! :)

Well, I guess you could say this week has been a "growing experience"!! I have learned a lot and never prayed so hard in my life! It has been the best! The first day we got to Indiana, we went to the mission home and spent the night there. We had a devotional by Presdient Cleveland and it was so good! Holy... I love him so much! He has already impacted my life tremendously! He likes sports analogies so, it is really fun for me because that is right up my alley! We then got interviewed, and it comforted me so much to talk to President! Such a great man! The next morning we headed to transfer meeting...met my trainer and off we went! Sister Warner went over the records with me and then we went to go teach. The next day we would be teaching "my first, real investigator" and can you guess where we taught him?????? The MISSION HOME! Yes, my first lesson was with the Mission President and first investigator! So, I prayed my little heart out and I did my best! The investigators name is Carlos, he is married to a less active woman and he loves questions...he has a nickname for me already (don't ask me what is it...its really random and weird and I can't even remember it!) :) He is really nice though. He came to church this Sunday -so that was good! I am still getting to know him but, I am sure crossing my fingers and praying for him!

Another cool experience was on Thursday, our cars were "grounded" which means it was snowing too much...so we couldn't drive the car..so we decided to walk! We went and visited a less active lady named Mae and on our way back from her house we saw a man shoveling snow..I don't know what came over me, but I grabbed Sister Warner and pulled in the direction he was and went for it. We started talking to him, gave him a copy of the Book of Mornom, helped him shovel a few drive ways and asked him he wanted to come to church. He said yes and lo and behold HE CAME TO CHURCH! His name is Dirk. He is awesome!! We talked to him after church and he said and I quote "I think these are the latter days or something" we then pointed to our name tags. :) He is a recovering alcholic...my favorite kind and wants change in his life. (We'll give him change!) He said to us that he thinks God sent him two angels!  haha -I love Dirk! So I am excited to see where that goes! We are meeting with him this week.

Overall this week has been incredible! There have been moments where I wondering what the heck I am doing (well...acutally that is every moment) :) but still some how Heavenly Father continues to bless me. I love you all so so so much and pray for you so much! It is the new "texting" for me. Some how praying for you ALL the time makes me feel just a little bit closer to you! Have a wonderful week!

Eating Together After Austins Staff Meeting

February 9, 2014

Hi!!!
How is everyone!? Thank you so much for the package and the little notes! I showed everyone our family picture and they love you all already! Hard to believe right?...Not!!! I can not believe it has been another week and tomorrow we are going to be in INDIANA! It is so weird! I am so excited but, you mean the people we are going to be talking to are not really teachers at the MTC or hired investigators? AHHHH!!!!!! Scary! But, really I am so excited and I can not wait, I have an extra copy of the Book of Mormon so I can give it to someone in need!

This week was really good! I was able to grow and learn in more ways than one! Which is awesome! Brenny and Al, I want to let you know that my whole district says "RACHAEL" at random parts of the day all the time...ya it is catching like wild fire! :) But, I am working so hard at trying not to quote movies and sing songs that distract me...but, I can tell you that it HAS BEEN A STRUGGLE! Holy! Who would have thought that quoting movies would be the hardest habit to kick! :)

The MTC has been such a great experience for me and I can honestly say I have loved my time here! Seeing Austin has been the best thing and something I will treasure for my entire life! Seeing him was such a huge comfort to me and if I really think about it, it make me ball like a baby because it is so special..."he's the best...what are we going to do???" (Dad and Brenny- p90x reference?) (I know..I am quoting something!) This week has been so good! My teachers are so incredible! I have learned things from them that would have probably taken me over half my mission to learn but, because they are so great..I am going into the mission field with that knowledge, now it is just time to apply it! :) I have been trying to study as hard as I can. I have really gained a huge testimony this week of how much our Savior, Jesus Christ loves us. He is constantly doing something for us and providing us with comfort. He suffered for us, he created the earth, he asks us to follow him and keep the commandments, just so in turn he can bless us more. In my personal study I have been reading the Book of Mormon and looking for the Characteristics of Christ and it has been mind blowing the amount of love that he gives for us! Wooo!

Life is great for me! We leave tomorrow at like 4:30am ...so I will be calling somewhere around 6 to 8...I know that is school/ getting ready/ Brenny's p90x session but....be there anyway because I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO YOU! I can not wait... I love you all so much and think the world of each and everyone of you! I love you...DAD, MOM, AUSTIN, AMY, BRENNEN, ALEX, HARRISON, MCCALL, AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!! Well...ready or not here we come....I have 18 months to serve him with my whole heart and the rest of my life to look back on it...so I am going to go kick some sugar buns and GIVE THEM HEAVEN! I can not wait to be able to talk to you! You are in my prayers!
LOVES, HUGS, BUGS!
Love Sister Clegg!

Family!!!!!
Wow, this is the best feeling in the world! How is everyone! Thank you for your dear elders and sweet notes! They are the best!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the MTC! I love being a representative of Christ, and I love learning and growing! Overall, I can not think of a bad moment! I truly am one happy camper!I almost dont know where to begin?

The first day was great, long.... but so great! After balling eyes out when I was dropped off, I used what Mom has taught me best to do and put on a smile and off I went. I got my name tag and met my companion. Her name is Sister Crandall. She is so sweet and I love her! I really am blessed by the companion I have! She is from Logan, Utah. We had orientation and met our teachers (who are the best) and started class! My district (4 elders, 4 sisters) are amazing and they all bring a spirit and a perspective that helps me grow which I love!

Our days typically have 2 sets of three hour classes, personal study for an hour, companionship study for an hour, GYM TIME (oh my do I love gym time... my poor companion probably thinks I am a weird child...because the moment I get into the gym I am like Cookie coming out of the kennel... (I GO CRAZY!) haha! I have ran 3 miles every time and played basketball the remainder of the time. I love it! I have loved all that I am learning and the things I get to do. We have taught our PI and TRCs (don't ask me what they stand for because I have no idea...but they are just like investigators)

It is hard to tell you everything but, I would love to tell you one of my favorite spiritual experience.... Sunday! Sundays in the MTC are simply incredible! I love them! You get devotionals and firesides! It is great! One thing I loved the most though was Elder Bednar's talk (it was a video) about the Character of Christ. It was undescribable...it was so powerful and it really was SO GOOD. There was something he said that I loved "The Atonement would not have been possible, if it were not for the Character of Christ." It was so good! He then talked about how in Christs life, all the times he had something happening to him where the natural man would turn in, he turned out. Powerful. The MTC has a way of making you feel like a dirt bag but, but powerfully letting you know it is okay because of the one and single most important acts Jesus Christ did.. the Atonement. I am so thankful for that!!!! I wish I had more time! Overall though, know that I pray for each of you and that I love you! I am really happy and I know this is something my Heavenly Father needs me to do. I am grateful! I am truly blessed and loving life! In the words of Tom the Bomb... I AM LIVING THE DREAM!

I Love you so much and will send a hand written letter today. You are all the best! Thankful for you!!!!!
 Love Sister Clegg

P.S. Mom can you send me a USB so I can send pics? Thank you! I love you!

P.S.S. I see Kim(Sister Barrett) everyday! Which is so fun!!! (my roommmate)

Funny story (Dad you will really be the only one who appreciates this) haha- One night I was saying the prayer for our companionship prayer and I was praying for each elder and sister in our district and one of the elders name is Makey, but as I got done with the prayer Sister Crandall asked me if I had said Elder Mullet (s?) instead of Makey. I totally had!!! haha - I then tried to figure out where that word came from...lo and behold it was from our 4 day cleanse diet! Haha - It was the cereal...Millet-- haha I thought of you and was laughing at my classic self, that switches names and things around! :) Love you all!!!!!!!! :)
